The Challenge

Limited in-cab visibility made it difficult to protect drivers and minimize costs

Massey Services, established in 1985, provides residential and commercial pest prevention, termite protection, landscape, and irrigation services. Their team members drive millions of miles (over 30 million in 2025) every year in branded vehicles to serve over a million customers, so it’s critical they operate safely on the road.

With more than 2,800 vehicles in operation every day, safety-related costs such as insurance claims, vehicle repairs, and accidents continued to increase. They needed a solution that offered comprehensive in-cab visibility, so they could proactively coach drivers on risky behaviors. "We wanted to find a program that allowed us insight into what behaviors our team members were engaging in that put them at risk for an accident," said Bryan Campbell, Director of Risk Management. “We needed that inward-facing camera to make sure we focus on the highest risk drivers that need coaching.”

When evaluating a new solution, Massey piloted several providers. Massey sought a solution that could offer the functionality required to surface accurate real-time data, but they also knew that the change management ahead would require support every step of the way. For Massey, it was equally important that they worked with a long-term partner that could fit with their operational culture.

The Solution

Massey’s trial proved Samsara was the best fit in both functionality and culture

With Samsara, Massey found a partner that aligned both in terms of robust functionality and operational fit. After a rigorous evaluation over six months, Massey selected Samsara of four different vendors over six months.

We had over 300 different items that we went over, and Samsara met all of our requirements," said Campbell.

During the their evaluation, trial, Massey found that some dash cams generated frequent alerts that disrupted and frustrated drivers, while Samsara AI Dash Cams only alerted drivers when necessary. “During our field evaluations, we found that all of the telematics systems generated false positive alerts, this had the effect of causing some of the drivers to tune out the alerts because they knew they were not accurate. Of all the systems we tested, Samsara had the least amount of false positive events and over the evaluation period we were able to virtually eliminate most of those false positives.” said Campbell.

In addition to technical capabilities, Samsara’s world-class support—critical to helping them navigate their change management process—led Massey to choose Samsara. “Everyone at Samsara listens when I talk to them,” said Campbell. “Samsara would bring people that are experts in the field to solve our issues and to help us get through things that we honestly would have overlooked.”

Ultimately, Massey found a long-term partner with Samsara that seamlessly fit with their culture.  "At Massey Services, we believe in building long-term, trusting relationships with our vendors. It's important that we can count on each other," said Campbell. "We found that kind of bond with Samsara."

Fleet Telematics

$1.3M saved in fuel costs with next-level fuel management

Massey had limited visibility into vehicle activity and had challenges with excessive idling—especially in the hot Southeast climate where air conditioning is necessary for driver safety. With Samsara, Massey transformed their fuel management, using idling alerts to manage fuel usage and the Wex integration to centralize fuel reporting. Visibility due to AI Dash Cams also helped to reduce unauthorized vehicle use. Altogether, Samsara enabled Massey to save over 250,000 gallons of fuel in one year, translating to $1.3 million in fuel savings.

Workforce Apps

90% improvement in DVIR completion rate with Samsara Apps

Prior to Samsara, Massey struggled with low DVIR compliance and paper-based inspection forms were often lost or damaged. This led to skipped inspection and caused expensive repairs and downtime. By adopting Samsara’s Workforce Apps, Massey digitized the entire DVIR process, enabling drivers to complete digital checklists and upload live photos. As a result of Samsara, Massey improved their DVIR completion rate from 40% to over 90%.
